Proverbs 1
1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and
equity;
4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding
shall attain unto wise counsels:
6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the
wise, and their dark sayings.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise
wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
2 Chronicles 1:11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in
thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the
life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked
wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over
whom I have made thee king:
2 Chronicles 1:12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I
will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings
have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee
have the like.
