Scriptural support for supporting ministers of the Word
of God who
"labor in the Word and doctrine" (1 Timothy 5:17):
Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Mark 10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There
is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or
mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
Mark 10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses,
and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions;
and in the world to come eternal life.
1Co 9:7 Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who
planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth
a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
1Co 9:8 Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same
also?
1Co 9:9 For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle
the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for
oxen?
1Co 9:10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no
doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that
he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
1Co 9:11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great
thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
1Co 9:12 If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we
rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things,
lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
1Co 9:13 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things
live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar
are partakers with the altar?
1Co 9:14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the
gospel should live of the gospel.
1Timothy 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double
honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
1Timothy 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox
that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
Gal 6:6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate [distribute,
share] unto him that teacheth in all good things.
Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth,
that shall he also reap.
Gal 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption;
but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Gal 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we
shall reap, if we faint not.
Gal 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all
men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Mat 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of
them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
Mat 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet
before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets,
that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their
reward.
Mat 6:3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy
right hand doeth:
Mat 6:4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth
in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
...
Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth
and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where
neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through
nor steal:
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
2 Pe 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Tit 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that
he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
Tit 1:10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers,
specially they of the circumcision:
Tit 1:11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching
things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.
2 Jo 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of
Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath
both the Father and the Son.
2 Jo 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine,
receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
2 Jo 1:11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil
deeds.
For the first 4 and a half years of my ministry, from spring 1998 to November 2002, I have not asked for any donations. I thought that by not asking for donations, I would be walking as Paul walked, and therefore, not "hinder the gospel." I thought I would give credibility to the scriptural arguments I present by not asking for money. Also, I have read so many arguments from those who attack the pretribulation rapture by accusing people of teaching the rapture for money, and I have let their accusations cloud my judgment.
Lately, I have realized that I have been holding back my ministry, and taking away from my credibility by not asking for help from others, and by not submitting to God's plan for ministers. Without funding, it is extremely difficult to expand the reach of this web site. Part of what helps to give ideas credibility is how widespread ideas become. So, with your help, and God's help, the substance of this ministry will reach many more people. I'll be able to buy keywords at search engines, and ads in Christian newsletters and websites. I have devoted myself to teaching bible prophecy. And if this ministry is supported by God, then there will be enough money to expand the ministry and also for me to sustain myself from the ministry, which is what God intended and ordained as Paul wrote in 1 Cor 9, quoted above.
My ministry is not, and never will be, a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt organization. A 501(c)(3) organization must follow the rules of the IRS, thus putting the IRS as the head, and not the Lord Jesus Christ as the head of the ministry. A 501(c)(3) organization is also not allowed to let contributions inure to (to go to, or work to the advantage of) a minister. But the Bible says we should allow contributions to benefit the minister.
1Cor 9:14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
For other Biblical reasons why I reject incorporating as a 501(c)(3) organization, see my essay on the identity of the Great Harlot in Rev 17-18.

(The lack of a zip code is on purpose. Your mail will still arrive.)
*You can send cash safely through the U.S. Post Office if you send it by "REGISTERED MAIL," (which costs about $3.00), and ask for a "return receipt requested". This will insure the contents of the package against theft, and this is how coin dealers send gold and silver through the mail.
At the moment, this ministry is very small. Please email me at bibleprophesy@yahoo.com to let me know when you mail a contribution, so that I will know to go to the post office.
